Parker - Two Months Old!

My sweet little Parker had his two month checkup last week, and for a guy who had a slow start in the weight department, he sure has done some bigtime catching up in the last month or so!

  • Weight: 12.0 lb (51st percentile)

  • Length: 22 inches (14th percentile)

  • Head Circumference: 15.75 inches (83rd percentile)
He got 6 vaccines in 4 doses (3 shots, 1 oral), which I'm sure was a lot more painful for me than for him judging by who cried more! We did find out that Parker has eczema, just like his big sister, and he had a yeast infection (which I didn't even know was possible for boys, but apparently as long as it's dark and moist, yeast doesn't gender discriminate). Otherwise, he couldn't be more perfect!

On another note...my friend Allison introduced me to these adorable stickers by Picky Sticky, which help to capture each special month of baby's first year. You just stick them on a onesie and snap away. Such a cute idea! Unfortunately, I got them late and missed the first two stickers (0 and 1 month), but I'll definitely continue this until he's one!

Parker, we are all just enjoying loving on you and watching you grow so much. You have the sweetest little demeanor, although you do cry if you're wet or dirty and you *really* know how to assert yourself when you're hungry (can't stress that one enough)! Your big sister loves helping Mommy & Daddy with you - holding you, feeding you, bathing you, giving you your paci. It really warms my heart to see the two of you together, and I can't wait to watch your relationship blossom as you do!

Love Always,
Mommy

Three Year Checkup

Anna had her three year checkup this afternoon, and she was very cooperative for Dr. Leonardo. She brought her baby Zoe along, and played doctor on her to pass the time while we were waiting.

Here are her stats:
  • Height: 38.5 inches
  • Weight: 34 lbs.

No shots this time, but we were warned it would be 4 shots when we go in for her check up next year. Yikes!

Two Year Checkup

Here are Anna's stats from her 2 year checkup:
  • Weight: 30 pounds (75th percentile)

  • Height: 35 inches (75th percentile)

She graduated to the real scale for both height and weight, so no more laying down on the baby ones. She's now in the 75th percentile for both height and weight, so really starting to thin out and become more proportionate.

Dr. Leonardo asked lots of questions about things Anna is saying and doing, and it seems like we are right on track developmentally. Of course, Anna wouldn't do anything I said she could do in front of the doctor. Made me look like a big fat liar!

  • Me: "Sure, Anna can jump! Jump for Dr. Leonardo, Anna!"

  • Anna: [blank stare]

  • Me: "Sure, Anna knows how old she is! Anna, how old are you?"

  • Anna: [blank stare]

  • Me: "Sure, Anna loves suckers! Anna, tell Dr. Leonardo thank you for the sucker!"

  • Anna: [blank stare]

You get the point. Obviously this wasn't a shock for Dr. Leonardo as lots of kids aren't "performers", especially not at the doctor's office. But it was still kind of funny.

She got one shot - which she took fairly well - but the good news is that there should be no more vaccination shots until her 4 year checkup. She'll still have to endure the trauma of some blood work later this week to test for anemia, but that's nothing a Strawberry Shortcake bandaid can't fix :)

18 Month Checkup

Here are Anna's stats from her 18 month checkup:
  • Weight: 28 lbs. 2.0 oz. (90th percentile)
  • Height: 32.5 inches (80th percentile)
  • Head Circumference: 18.75 inches (80th percentile)

She only got one shot (tetanus), and she didn't even shed one tear.

15 Month Checkup

Here are Anna's stats from her 15 month checkup:
  • Weight: 27 lbs. 1.0 oz. (95th percentile)
  • Height: 31.5 inches (80th percentile)
  • Head Circumference: 18.5 inches (80th percentile)

One Year Checkup

Anna had her one-year checkup on Tuesday. She got a few immunization shots (one in her leg, and one in each arm), so that made her quite upset - but nothing Mommy's hugs & kisses couldn't cure.

Here are her official stats:
  • Weight: 24 lbs. 9.4 oz. (92th percentile)
  • Height: 30 inches (75th percentile)
  • Head Circumference: 18 inches (55th percentile)

Dr. Leonardo was quite impressed with all of the words and sounds that Anna is making and assured me not to worry about the fact that she's not walking yet. She'll do it all in her own time.

We should be making the switch to whole milk soon as well, so we'll see how that goes!

Four Month Checkup

Anna had her four month checkup yesterday. So here's the scoop. . .

  • Weight: 16 lb 15 oz (97th percentile)
  • Height: 25 3/8 inches (75th percentile)

We discussed starting Anna on solids, so it looks like Anna might get her first taste of rice cereal in the next week or so. We'll definitely keep the camera handy for that adventure.

She also got her second round of shots. She cried for a little while, but the nurse was mercifully quick, and Anna calmed down as soon as I was able to pick her up and console her.

She experienced a few expected side-effects from the shots, especially fussiness! Nothing a little tylenol couldn't ease, though, thank goodness. My heart just broke seeing her in pain. Hopefully, we'll all forget how much "fun" this was by the time her 6 month checkup rolls around ;)

Two Month Checkup

Anna had her two month check-up with the pediatrician this morning.

Here are her new stats:
  • Weight: 12 lbs. 1 oz (90th Percentile)
  • Height: 22.5 Inches (50th Percentile)
  • Head Circumference: 15 Inches (50th Percentile)
She also got her Pediarix (DTaP/IPV/HBV), Hib, PCV and Rotateq vaccines. One was oral and the other three were shots (one in the right thigh, and two in the left). I was really worried about how much crying there would be because it just breaks my heart to see her hurting. But she surprised us - cried very briefly as each shot was given, but calmed down as soon as it was all over and I picked her up. At the doctor's recommendation, we gave her some Tylenol before we left his office, so hopefully she won't have any side effects this afternoon.

We're so proud of our brave little girl!
