Number Three?

In a public restroom tonight after explaining the expressions "number one" and "number two". . .

Me: "So do you need to make number one or number two?"

Anna: "Wait. What's number one?"

Me: "Wee wee".

Anna: "And what's number two?"

Me: "Poo poo."

Anna: {Long pause} "What number is diarrhea?"

And then i had to try to contain my laughter because it upsets her.You just can't buy that kind of entertainment!

Say Hello to My Little Friend

We've heard lots of stories about Anna picking up little tree frogs when they play outside at her school, so I guess we weren't too surprised tonight when she found a new little "friend" in the backyard.

Meet "Isabella" (yes, apparently it's a girl). . .

Derek taught her how to hold it and made sure she didn't squeeze too tight. He even let it bite him to show her that it doesn't hurt.

After she let Isabella go, she came inside where I was cooking dinner and cried because she wanted her "friend to come back." Oh yeah. So she's tough enough to hold and pet a lizard, but she's girl enough to cry when it's time to say goodbye :)

Best of both worlds. Man, I love that little girl!

Parker - Two Months Old!

My sweet little Parker had his two month checkup last week, and for a guy who had a slow start in the weight department, he sure has done some bigtime catching up in the last month or so!

  • Weight: 12.0 lb (51st percentile)

  • Length: 22 inches (14th percentile)

  • Head Circumference: 15.75 inches (83rd percentile)
He got 6 vaccines in 4 doses (3 shots, 1 oral), which I'm sure was a lot more painful for me than for him judging by who cried more! We did find out that Parker has eczema, just like his big sister, and he had a yeast infection (which I didn't even know was possible for boys, but apparently as long as it's dark and moist, yeast doesn't gender discriminate). Otherwise, he couldn't be more perfect!

On another note...my friend Allison introduced me to these adorable stickers by Picky Sticky, which help to capture each special month of baby's first year. You just stick them on a onesie and snap away. Such a cute idea! Unfortunately, I got them late and missed the first two stickers (0 and 1 month), but I'll definitely continue this until he's one!

Parker, we are all just enjoying loving on you and watching you grow so much. You have the sweetest little demeanor, although you do cry if you're wet or dirty and you *really* know how to assert yourself when you're hungry (can't stress that one enough)! Your big sister loves helping Mommy & Daddy with you - holding you, feeding you, bathing you, giving you your paci. It really warms my heart to see the two of you together, and I can't wait to watch your relationship blossom as you do!

Love Always,
Mommy

Blog Ressurected

I was once so good about keeping up, but it's been an embarassingly long time since I last posted on the blog. And even before then, it was kind of dying a slow death. I could blame it on work, my pregnancy, my new photography business, my preschooler, or a long laundry list of other tings, but the truth is that it was just a combination of it all. Then after it had been a while, I just didn't know what to say, and it was so much easier to just post a quick photo or status update on facebook rather than take the time to put together a blog post.

But that ends now. Reading through some of my old posts, there are things I wrote about Anna once upon a time that I had already forgotten - and she's only four! And I know that one day she'll enjoy looking back at them as much as I do. So now that Parker is here, I figure it's as good a time as any to ressurect the blog and make a commitment to myself and my kids to preserve my precious memories of them. Because they are the most amazing blessings to me, and I don't want to forget one second.

About This Blog

I'm a mother, a wife, and a business systems analyst for a major technology company. Some days I'm good at all three, some days I suck at them all. Between diapers, laundry and late night conference calls, it's all just part of the fun of being a working mom. This blog will share some of my thoughts and adventures in sleep-deprivation. Enjoy, and please do leave comments so I'll know you were here!
